So you've chosen a short-term global experience and you're ready to apply?

Before applying, make sure that you have talked to an academic advisor, confirmed you are eligible to participate and drafted a budget to ensure you can afford to participate.

Download the short-term program checklist to guide you through the short-term process.

Follow these steps to apply for a short-term global experience.

3. Apply to host

Your application with UQ Abroad is separate to your application to the host of your nominated short-term global experience.

UQ Abroad has no control over whether your application to the host will be approved, and approval by UQ Abroad does not guarantee approval by the host.

Many short-term global experiences are competitive, popular, have limited places, and hosts usually allocate these places on a rolling basis.

It is your responsibility to ensure you provide the relevant documentation, fees and application forms to the host before their nominated deadline.

For-credit students may wish to wait until their credit assessment has been completed by the faculty before applying to their host.

Apply early

Credit assessments can take 4-6 weeks to be completed so you should apply as early as possible.

Many hosts will require a non-refundable deposit payment to be paid to secure your place in the program (often paid within 10 - 30 days of notification).

Students should take these time-frames into consideration when applying to participate in a short-term global experience.
