Before starting your application, it's important to review the information below to help you understand how a global study experience fits into your studies, explore your best options, and prepare your application.

Whether you’re just starting to explore for a short-term experience or ready to apply, you can get started by accessing the short-term workflow through the Global Experiences Dashboard in Student Hub. The short-term workflow will guide you through each stage of the process, from exploring your options to submitting your application.

What to expect in the short-term workflow:

As you progress through the short-term workflow, you will:

Understand the eligibility requirements and how the experience fits within your UQ program
Explore and compare short-term study options
Plan your studies, budget, and key logistics
Prepare key information and documents needed to apply

Completing the steps in the short-term workflow does not commit you to applying. It’s a way to understand the process and decide whether a short-term study experience is right for you.

Applying for a short-term study experience through the short-term workflow:

Once short-term study applications are open, you’ll be able to progress from exploration to application directly within the short-term workflow. This will include:

Submitting an application to UQ
Upload required supporting documents
Receive updates and instructions on your next steps

Your short-term workflow will clearly outline what to do and when, helping you stay on track throughout the application process.

Short-Term Study deadlines

Application for Short-term Study in UQ’s Winter break:
Open: 28 November (for Winter of the following year)
Close: 14 April (for Winter of the same year)

Application for Short-term Study in UQ’s Summer break:
Open: 15 July (for Summer of the same year)
Close: 24 September (for Summer of the same year)

OS-HELP Loan application deadlines close before the Summer and Winter Short-Term Study application deadlines. Please visit the OS-HELP Loan website for deadline dates as late applications will not be accepted.
