So you've decided you want to apply for a semester-based exchange!
Before you start the application process make sure you have confirmed that you are eligible and know where you want to go.
If you are having difficulty at any stage of the application process, please contact an Internships and Global Experiences Coordinator for help. Do not contact your host institution directly as all enquiries must be made through Global Experiences until you are formally accepted.
4. Attend the Next Steps session
Students are required to attend a Next Steps session that will provide more information on the following:
- When you can expect to know the outcome of your application
- Documents you must submit for credit assessment
- What is involved in applying to the host institution
- What financial assistance is available
Next Steps sessions for students applying for an exchange in Semester 1, 2025:

We understand it might be tempting to start making additional plans, however, please do not make any bookings or apply for visas until after you have received a faculty-approved study plan and host university acceptance.

Application for Exchange in UQ Semester 1:
Open: 24 April (for Semester 1 of the following year)
Close: 31 May (for Semester 1 of the following year)
Application for Exchange in UQ Semester 2:
Open: 24 September (for Semester 2 of the following year)
Close: 31 October (for Semester 2 of the following year)
