So you're ready to apply for a short-term global experience?

Before applying, talk to an academic advisor, confirm your eligibility and create a budget to confirm you can afford to participate.

To walk you through the process, download the short-term program checklist.

To apply, follow these steps:

1. Apply to UQ

To receive credit pre-approval, access to insurance and funding, you must submit your online application and supporting documentation (see notes below) to the Global Experiences Team.

You must agree to UQ Global Experiences Terms and Conditions when you submit your application.

You can only submit one application per application round. If you are unsure which global experience you wish to apply to, speak with a Global Experiences adviser

Apply to UQ

Applications to UQ are now closed. Applications for Winter 2020 will open in December 2019.

For-credit students

To apply to receive credit for your nominated experience, attach the following documents to your online application:

  • Short-term global experience application for credit form
  • Host program course details: Provide details of the overseas course(s) you wish to take (i.e., supporting course profiles/syllabi) - this information can be found on the host program website
  • Your UQ studies report (downloaded from mySI-net)
  • Undergraduate BEL Faculty Students ONLY: include a completed progression check.
  • Any additional supporting application documents (if requested) for your nominated experience (see notes under “Eligibility and application” section of the experience webpage).

Please note: Credit assessments can take 4-6 weeks. Apply early to ensure credit approval prior to applying to the host program provider.

You may be able to search the Credit Precedent Database to find previously assessed courses. The database should be used as a guide only as not all short-term global experiences are listed in the database.

Not-for-credit students

To apply as a not-for-credit student, attach the following documents to your online application:

  • Your UQ studies report (downloaded from mySI-net)
  • Any additional supporting application documents (if requested) for your nominated experience (see notes under “Eligibility and application” section of the experience webpage).
