4. Apply for a visa

You will need to research visa requirements for your preferred program before applying to UQ Abroad.

As you will be completing study overseas you may need a particular type of visa to enter the host country.

Smartraveller is a good place to start researching visa requirements, but you should also access the host country's consulate website and seek advice from the host university on appropriate visas.

Visa applications can take vary between two weeks to five months to be processed. Ensure you research visa requirements and complete the necessary visa applications as early as possible.

You also need to make sure that you have all the relevant documents required to apply for your visa. These can include:

  • valid passport (valid for at-least 6 months after your expected return date)
  • certificate of insurance
  • evidence of host acceptance
  • evidence of home university support
  • evidence of financial standing
  • evidence of health check and records
