Employability Award Written Task Guide
When should I submit my application?
You can submit your written application once you have completed all the Activity Requirements and reflected upon them. There are three application rounds per year and you can apply for any round, so long as you are still enrolled at UQ and complete the written application and interview before you graduate.
Semester 1 deadline - Sunday 14 April, 2024 (11:59pm)
Semester 2 deadline - Sunday 15 September, 2024 (11:59pm)
Please note: These are firm dates and no extensions will be granted. We recommend that you prepare to submit your application early to avoid disappointment.
The application guide is subject to change so we highly recommend you follow the online instructions that are in place during your final semester at UQ.
2. About Me Pitch Video
In this section, submit an elevator-pitch video (one-minute maximum) to promote yourself and explain why you would be a great addition to the workforce.
To help you with this task, please ensure that you review the following resource links:

Ensure that you include the following key elements in your video:
- Introduce yourself professionally including your area of study.
- Share your passions, strengths or employability experiences in 2-3 brief sentences.
- Explain what you hope your future career looks like in 1-2 sentences.
- Give a call to action to the viewer.
- Say thank you.
The video can be filmed on a phone; however, you should ensure you are achieving a professional presence). If you are going to use your phone to film, please watch “how to film a pitch video on your phone” for important tips.
How to share your pitch video:
You will need to provide an online link in your application to your pitch video through a cloud server so that the Employability Award staff can view it easily. You may like to use iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Youtube to do this. Here are a few instructions on how to create a shareable link for these platforms. PLEASE NOTE, this link needs to be accessible by any staff to assess your application:
