Below are details on the providers that have been approved as Student Employability Centre (SEC) Internship opportunities, and details on the opportunities they offer.

Who are Virtual Internship Partners Ltd?

Virtual Internship Partners Ltd are the sister company of CRCC Asia and specialise in delivering meaningful and transformative virtual work experiences to students. They connect students directly to host companies with their re-arranged virtual internship opportunity, offering student flexibility, and the opportunity to still apply their knowledge to real working industry challenges, without the commitment of attending a workplace each day. All students are guaranteed online internship placement in one of their top career fields, and students can focus on one country or multiple countries for placement options.

Costs & Inclusions

AUD $1,350 for UQ students who are successfully placed within a program. (Standard rate is AUD $2,695)

UQ students must apply to both UQ and Virtual Internship Partners for participation with UQ rate.

This cost includes:

  1. Provision of work experience placement with a Host Company (All virtual internship positions are unpaid)
  2. Guaranteed Virtual International Internship in the country or career field of choice
  3. Dedicated Program Experience Manager to check-in weekly with interns
  4. Assigned Internship Coach to complete midpoint and end of program coaching calls with the delivery of Global Career Management Plan (GCMP) and Global Employability Certificate
  5. Access to three months Online Language Lessons provided by Rosetta Stone
  6. Access to CareerBridge, our Global Internship Curriculum walking students through resume creation, interview prep, time management, remote work and more.
  7. Weekly Group Discussions or Business Webinars covering a range of topical themes
  8. Full End of Program Report including supervisor evaluation, student assessment, and GCMP

The following services will be provided for UQ students:

  • Flat program fee for 1, 2 or 3 month program of AUD $1,350 (normally AUD $2,695 )
  • Minimum 30 hours per week of remote work-based experience
  • Choice from 3 program start dates to align with UQ semester break and VI programs:
    • 23 Nov 2020
    • 07 Dec 2020
    • 04 Jan 2021
  • Students who would like to complete a 2 or 3 month internship should contact VI directly to discuss their placement so they can assist with student expectations around international public holidays such as Tết and Chinese New Year.

When you submit an internship application, you are automatically considered for a AUD $750 grant supporting short-term internship participants.

To be considered you must have uploaded your Host Organisation Acceptance Letter by 8 November 2020.

There is no additional application required.

If you have already submitted an application for the Employability Grant for your internship, you will receive an email to advise that your application will be withdrawn and that you will be automatically considered for the short-term internship grant instead. Please note that you cannot receive two types of funding for the same experience.

Grants are limited and may be awarded by a selection committee on the basis of:

  • academic merit
  • academic progression as provided at the time of application
  • in consideration of other scholarships awarded to the student
  • applicants will be considered for only one grant from the Student Employability Centre per application round

This grant is not guaranteed even if all selection criteria are met.

Students who are due to graduate at the end of semester 2, 2020 will not be eligible for this grant.


To participate in a Virtual Internship Partners virtual internship program, you must;

1. Be actively enrolled into a UQ program and courses*,
2. Not due to graduate at the end of the semester of application*,
3. Have a minimum GPA of 4 and a record of steady academic achievement, and
4. Meet all other criteria as outlined by the host organisation.

*Due to the evolving situation of COVID-19, students may be considered for participation in this program if they are not currently enrolled. Students who are due to graduate at the end of semester 2, 2020 are also eligible to apply, although they may be ineligible for UQ Insurance while undertaking their internship. These exceptions are for this round of applications only.

Credit for Internships

Some students may be able to receive credit towards their UQ program pending faculty approval. The Student Employability team is unable to provide further advice regarding internships for credit.
