The Chinese University of Hong Kong International Summer School offers a fun, interactive and academically challenging experience, where you can meet new friends from around the world, learn in an open and stimulating environment, and spend a fun-filled summer exploring a cosmopolitan city.

This year, CUHK are offering courses in five academic areas taught by outstanding CUHK and visiting professors from renowned overseas universities. The program includes in excursions, activities, and visits to immerse in the local culture outside the classroom.

Credit equivalent 

3 CUHK Credits = 2 UQ Units. Maximum of 4 UQ Units upon successful completion of 6 CUHK Credits (pending UQ faculty approval). 

Visa Information

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa for the country where you will be studying. As the Global Experiences team is not a visa-issuing authority we cannot provide visa advice.

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the short-term experience eligibility criteria and the CUHK entry requirements.

It is strongly recommended that you submit your application to the Global Experiences team at least 4 weeks before the UQ deadline of 30 March 2026 to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the UQ and host application deadlines.  

Successful applicants will be nominated to CUHK by UQ by 15 April 2026. Approved students will be required to submit an application via the online application system to the host university by 30 April 2026.

Cost

The participation mode of this experience is Exchange, meaning you are responsible for paying tuition fees to UQ instead of the host. Students are required to pay an administration and activities fee of approximately $800 AUD, and a refundable deposit of approximately $200 AUD.

Accommodation

On-campus accommodation in double or triple occupancy rooms is guaranteed for participants, at an additional cost of approximately $1,200 AUD. For more information regarding accommodation, please see the CUHK International Summer Program website

Global Experiences Grants

When you submit your application for an experience, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details. 

OS-HELP Loan

You may also be eligible to submit an application for an OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth-supported student.

OS-HELP Loan

If you participate in a short-term program you may also be eligible to submit an application for an OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth supported student. 

Application Deadlines

OS-HELP loan applications open on 5 January each year.

OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:

  • any earlier than 6 months before the official start date of your overseas study
  • any later than 3 months before the official end date of your overseas study.
