The Universitas 21 Summer School for undergraduate students is an excellent way for students from all disciplines to come together to study and share ideas. 

The Universitas 21 Summer School will be held in conjunction with the University of Nottingham’s (Malaysia Campus) International Summer School. Students attending this program will be able to participate in special extra events reserved for U21 students. 

Students chose from one of four Summer School Modules:

  • Media, Climate Change and the Asia Pacific
  • Politics, Culture and the Media in Southeast Asia
  • Doing Business in Asia
  • Creative Writing: Place, Travel, Movement
  • Intensive Mandarin for beginners

The program also includes accommodation, day trips and tours, welcome and farewell banquets and field trips.  For more detailed program information, visit the host university website. 


Students are not able to receive credit for this program. Please choose the not-for-credit option in your Global Experiences application. 

Eligibility and Application

All applicants must meet the short-term experience eligibility criteria

This is a competitive program and one student will be selected via an internal Global Experiences selection committee. 

Applicants must complete the UQ Global Experiences online application and complete a personal statement (max 500 words) answering the question 'How will you challenge yourself on this programme to expand your global outlook?' to the online application.

The full program fee is approximately $1,295 AUD.  Global Experiences will choose one student to attend the 2-week program for $825 AUD. Global Experiences will nominate the student who is to receive the U21 discounted place. 

Applicants may also be eligible for UQ-specific funding.
