A celebration of music on campus

3-6 September

St Lucia Sounds is a week long celebration of the vibrancy of music on campus. Kick off the week with A Taste of BIGSOUND on Monday 2 September, and keep the music going all week long with pop-up performances around campus. We then break it down at 3x3 UQ Slam with beatbox performances, DJ, and hip hop dancing on Thursday 5 September in partnership with UQ Sport. Whatever music you're into, St Lucia Sounds has you covered.

Timothy Clark
Nicknamed the “flute ninja”, Timothy Clark is currently strolling in his final year undertaking a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree at The University of Queensland, majoring in Composition, under the tutelage of Dr. Robert Davidson. As he enjoys pop music, Timothy considers his style of music to be classical pop.
Kent Tonscheck
Kent Tonscheck is a Gold Coast based, professional singer/songwriter and cover artist. His unique acoustic covers consist of a vast repertoire from 50's to today's top 40's in varying genres, giving every listener an experience they won't forget.
Sinaita Lepaio
Sinaita Lepaio grew up on the Sunshine Coast with a passion for music. Considering himself to be a darker and "much less talented" Ed Sheeran, Sinaita aims to make his performances meaningful and to have his audiences really feel something.
Eric March
Eric March is an 18-year-old classically trained violinist from Launceston, Tasmania. He has been playing the violin for 13 years, and achieved an Associate Diploma with Honours through the St Cecilia School of Music in Musical Performance at the end of 2018. He recently moved to Brisbane to begin a Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours at the University of Queensland.
Kabir Singh
Beatboxer Kabir Singh a.k.a Sonicboom has been beatboxing for over 5 years and performing professional for 2 years.
George Hodges
George Hodges hails from Taranaki in New Zealand and is a regular on many of Brisbane's stages and venues across South East Queensland. Being an original artist, his music is crafted with strong melodies and retrospective themes. Armed with a small guitar yet a big sound, George will entice the audience to hum and foot tap to his instantly likeable songs.
Rowan Russell
Rowan Russell can provide music for any atmosphere: from upbeat covers to get a crowd dancing, to fiery classical guitar performances. His experience in all guitar genres in addition to his folky voice creates a ‘best of both worlds’ sound. Whether it is a classic rock cover, or a complex guitar piece, he can play any tune to any crowd!
Clayton Po Ching
Clayton Po Ching is a singer/songwriter and entertainer, with a young smooth soulful style with elements of Motown, soul and RnB mixed with sweet sounds of the islands.
Kyle Bryant
Kyle Bryant is an acoustic singer/songwriter from Brisbane. Kyle's performance incorporate an acoustic guitar, voice, loop station and bass pedal. Kyle was featured at major events such as Island Vibe, 4ZZZ HiddenTreasures, and the Tamworth Music Festival.
Flamingo Drive
From a group of UQ musicians with a wide range of studies but a common love for music, Flamingo Drive is a new seven-piece cover band coming at you this semester. Originating from the UQ Music Students Society and covering various genres from Muse to ABBA, they're ready to put on a show!
