UQ's First Ever 3x3 Basketball Tournament!

The world’s number one urban team sport is coming to UQ! UQ Life in collaboration with UQ Sport bring you their first ever 3x3 UQ Slam Basketball Tournament! Whether you’re a casual jammer or the second coming of LeBron James, UQ Slam is for ALL ballers. Get your crew together and compete in 3x3 Basketball matches for your chance to win cash prizes. Play in front of a grandstand full of fans and absorb the atmosphere with pre and mid game entertainment. Expect hip hop dancers, DJ, spot prizes and 3x3 MC. Entry into the event is FREE and open to UQ students, staff and community to watch.

What to expect

Men’s and Women’s teams will contest a series of matches to crown a champion. Games will be played over 10 minutes, or decided by the first team to score 21 points.  Tip-off is at 5pm on Thursday 5 September. 

Not interested in playing but love to watch?

No worries! Grab your friends and cheer on your favourite team from the UQLife grandstand. Off the court, the atmosphere will be pumping with pre-event entertainment starting from 4.30pm. Enjoy endless entertainment with our hip hop performances, DJ, MC and random spot prizes to hype-up the crowd! Food trucks will be servicing Americano style foods, including hot dogs, burgers and icecream for all to enjoy. This is a FREE event for all spectators!

1st, 2nd and 3rd Men’s and Women's teams will take home cash prizes. 

Rules and registration

  • Registration is completely FREE!
  • Minimum of 3 players; maximum of 5 players per team.
  • Matches will be 10 minutes long, or decided by the first team to score 21 points.
  • Participants can register as a team, or as an individual, in the Men’s or Women's competition.
  • Participants must be a current UQ student to be eligible to play.
  • Participants must submit their UQ student number when completing the registration form.
  • Individual participants will be assigned to a team for the competition. 
  • Registration closes on Thursday 29 August at 5pm.
