SKKU Winter International Student Experience
The Winter International Student Experience (WISE) is a three-week academic and cultural immersion program hosted by Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), one of Korea’s most prestigious and historic institutions. Students can choose from courses across a wide range of disciplines, taught by SKKU professors and visiting faculty.
Beyond the classroom, WISE includes cultural activities and city tours that give students firsthand insight into Korean culture and everyday life in Seoul. The program offers an opportunity to study, explore and connect with students from around the world in one of Asia’s most dynamic cities.

Note: You may only attend 'On-campus' courses on this experience as the mode of study for this experience is 'in-person'. Online courses are not permitted.
Applicants are advised to submit 2-3 courses on their application for credit form for faculty assessment credit in case of course cancellation or changes.
Credit Equivalent
3 Credits = 2 UQ Units. Maximum of 2 UQ Units upon successful completion of 3 credits over the 3-week session (pending UQ faculty approval).
Students may enrol in up to two courses during the program, however are only eligible to receive credit for a maximum of one course.
Visa Information
It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa for the country where you will be studying. As the Global Experiences team is not a visa-issuing authority, we cannot provide visa advice.

Eligibility and Application
All applicants must meet the short-term experience eligibility criteria and any additional eligibility criteria set by Sungkyunkwan University.
If you are intending to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to the Global Experiences team at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline.
Cost
The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad, meaning you will pay tuition fees directly to the host.
The program fee is approximately AUD $1,800 - $3,100 depending on the number of courses taken, and a registration fee of approximately AUD $100 will apply. A number of cultural activities are included as part of the program. Detailed information regarding program fees and inclusions can be found on the SKKU WISE fees webpage.
Note an early bird discount is available to students who apply and pay before 31 October 2026.
Accommodation
Shared accommodation in dormitory housing can be arranged at an additional cost. More information regarding accommodation options can be found on the WISE accommodation page.

Global Experiences Grants
When you submit your application to Global Experiences, you are considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details.
OS-HELP Loan
You may also be eligible to submit an application for an OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth-supported student.

Application Deadlines
OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:
- any earlier than 6 months before the official start date of your overseas study
- any later than 3 months before the official end date of your overseas study.
