Fulda University of Applied Sciences International Summer University: HESSEN
The International Summer University (ISU) at Fulda University of Applied Sciences is a four-week summer school specially designed for international students who are interested in global questions of society and economics and who would like to learn the German language and culture or improve their language skills.
Join students from all over the world for the ISU which also includes field trips to visit Berlin, the political capital, and the historical and cultural centre of Germany. See the famous remains of the Berlin Wall and visit the German Bundestag (lower chamber) at the Reichstag building, the Holocaust Memorial.

Credit Equivalent
1 module + German course = 2 UQ Units. A maximum of 2 UQ Units if 1 primary course and the German language course are successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility
All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience eligibility criteria.
As this experience is supported in Exchange mode, all students must be able to receive credit for the experience.
This program impacts the UQ semester 2 dates. UQ students must meet the additional special conditions for programs that impact on teaching dates.
Application
Applicants must complete the Global Experience Short-term Study online application and provide their completed Hessen Application with the following attachments:
- Motivation Letter
- Resume or CV
Successful applicants will be nominated to the Hessen State Government by UQ the application deadline. Following your nomination, you may be required to submit additional application information directly to the host university.
Please note the hosting university has the final say on application acceptance.
Cost
The participation mode of this experience is Exchange. Therefore, tuition is paid to UQ and can be deferred to HECS if eligible.
Additional day-to-day living expenses (such as meals) are not included. Please refer to the 'General Information' section on the host university website for more information.
Accommodation
Accommodation is arranged as part of the program, and therefore, there is no additional cost when nominated by UQ through the Hessen:Queensland consortia. More information regarding accommodation can be found on the Hessen International Summer Universities (ISU)

When you submit your application for an experience, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details.
OS-HELP Loan
You may also be eligible to submit an application for an OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth-supported student.

Application Deadlines
OS-HELP loan applications open on 5 January each year.
OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:
- any earlier than 6 months before the official start date of your overseas study
- any later than 3 months before the official end date of your overseas study.
