Student Partner: FAQs
What support will I receive?
Student Partners receive a grant for their involvement in an SSP project. The grant levels are are based upon the maximum time commitment a Student Partner may spend on a project.
Grant level | Max. Contact hours | Grant amount |
---|---|---|
Level 1 | 25 hours / 15 weeks | $500 |
Level 2 | 37 hours / 15 weeks | $750 |
Level 3 | 50 hours / 15 weeks | $1,000 |
Level 4 | 75 hours / 21 weeks | $1,500 |
How long do projects take?
Project duration can be up to 15 or 21 weeks, depending on the project round. This may also be flexible depending upon your own and the project partners' schedules.
The SSP Projects Team encourages partners to share with their team any timeframes that they cannot fully commit to the project (e.g. during exams/assessments etc.).
How do I write a successful application?
Student Partners are selected by the Project Instigator(s) (i.e. the person(s) who submitted the project idea). The SSP Projects Team does not review applications or select Student Partners (apart from students who apply for our own projects).
In your application, be sure to outline your motivation and interests, and to detail how your experiences could contribute to the project. Make sure you address any requirements that are mentioned in the project listing.
Who will be my supervisor?
There are NO supervisors in SSP Projects. Rather, students and staff collaborate together on a project as equal partners. All partners (students and staff members alike) are equally respected and recognised for their unique ideas, skills and experiences that they bring to the project.
As a team, you will discuss and agree upon each Partner's roles and responsibilities. You are always welcome to reach out to the SSP Projects Team if you ever have any questions or concerns via email.
