Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) enjoys a long history and a world-renowned reputation in China, is a key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and jointly built with Shanghai Municipality.

Through 125 years' unremitting efforts, SJTU has become a comprehensive, research-oriented, and internationalized top university in China. To facilitate the internationalization of our university and to offer more courses taught in English, SJTU runs summer school and invites students from other universities to study at SJTU.

Applicants are advised to submit 2-3 courses on their application for credit form for faculty assessment credit in case of course cancellation. 

Credit Equivalent 

4 Credits = 2 UQ Units. You will be able to choose a maximum of one course. Maximum of 2 UQ units if 4 credits are successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility and Application

All applicants must meet the short-term experience eligibility criteria and any additional eligibility criteria set by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.  

If you are intending to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to IGET at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline.

Cost

The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad. The program fee is $5,710 AUD. Earlybird discounts are available. Detailed information regarding program fees and inclusions can be found on the host program website

Accommodation 

Limited accommodation may be available in on-campus housing or hotel on a first-come, first-served basis at an additional cost. More information regarding accommodation options can be found on the host university website.

Funding

New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant 

Eligible students are guaranteed a New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant valued at $3,000 AUD when participating in this experience.

When you submit your application to the Internships and Global Experiences team, you are automatically considered. There is no additional application required. Applicants will need to submit supporting documentation (host acceptance, bank details) by the relevant deadline.

If you participate in a short-term program you may also be eligible to submit an application for an OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth supported student.
