Full-time study load

150 contact hours at FGV per semester is equivalent to 8 UQ units.

Host university requirements

GPA
You will need a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.5 to study at FGV.

Language
For students wishing to take courses in Portuguese, you will need to be at a minimum level of B2 CEFR proficiency.

Study options
Students are admitted through the School of Law.
You must choose the majority of courses from the Law School. You can choose up to 2 courses in other FGV schools (Business, Economics, Maths and Data Science, Communication and Social Sciences).

Accommodation

FGV does not offer on-campus accommodation.

Sao Paulo Campus:
Students can contact the school and/or
the FGV Office of International Affairs and Global Cooperation in advance for assistance in finding accommodation. FGV will provide a list of helpful links via email to aid students in their search for suitable housing. They can also put the students in contact with property owners of private rentals that prior exchange students have utilised during their stay.

Rio Campus:
Students can contact the school and/or the FGV Office of International Affairs and Global Cooperation in advance for assistance in finding accommodation. FGV will provide a list of helpful links via email to aid students in their search for suitable housing. They can also put the students in contact with property owners of private rentals that prior exchange students have utilised during their stay.

FGV Direito Rio generally recommends looking at apartments in the following neighbourhoods, as they are popular among local students:

  • Ipanema
  • Botafogo
  • Flamengo
  • Copacabana
  • Lagoa
  • Leblon

Financial support

A range of funding for student exchange including scholarships, grants and loans are available to UQ students.  

Insurance

It is mandatory to have a valid International Health Insurance to attend FGV DIREITO SP. The insurance should have a coverage of 30.000,00 euros or US$ 42.000,00 (make sure the insurance will cover any Pandemic situation, including COVID). The proof of insurance must be send to the International Affairs Office prior to the student arrival.

Students approved to participate in a Semester-based Exchange are automatically covered by UQ’s Travel Insurance for the country of their host university only.

Organise your visa

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa for the country where you will be studying. As the Global Experiences team is not a visa-issuing authority we cannot provide visa advice.

Travel risk levels

The University of Queensland cannot and does not allow students to travel to any country with a risk level of 3 (Reconsider your need to travel) or above, as assessed by the Australian Government.

If a country's risk level changes to 3 or above, experiences to that country are suspended until the risk level improves.
