About My Career Adviser 

My Career Adviser is an online flexible resource that provides a vast array of audio-visual materials, readings, web pages, modules, and mini-assessments, that relates to many areas of career development and employability learning.

The resources are a curated selection of The University of Queensland’s, and other resources that are structured around the four stages of The University of Queensland Employability Framework – Awareness, Experience, Learning, and Transfer. 

Utilising the four stage UQ Employability Framework, stages of progression are presented for students to work through, including:

Get started – Building awareness about your employability (Awareness);  

Find opportunities – Identify your opportunities to access employability experiences (Experience);  

Unpack your learning – Develop your learning approach with employability (Learning);  

Next steps – Transition to the workplace and your ongoing career development (Transfer).  

My Career Adviser provides a variety of further support tools to guide the student along the journey, including completion tracker, topic search functionality, and Elipse Learning Pathway for key items. 

Topics, theming, and activities 

The topic content covers many important and contemporary areas of career development and employability learning. Topics include developing and managing your online professional profile, professional identity, online profiles and networking, career action planning, interviewing technique, networking strategies, resumes and job applications, amongst others, and integrates activities and assessment to guide, provide reflective opportunities, and evaluate students learning.

What support is provided? 

The Career Development Design Team will provide technical, implementation and analysis support at all stages of the semester, and are also available to introduce the My Career Adviser to students and provide demonstrations in early classes as required.
