Short-Term Global Experience Funding
When you submit your short term global experience application you are automatically considered for the following grants.
Short-term funding is awarded by a selection committee on the basis of academic merit, and academic progression as provided at the time of application, and in consideration of other scholarships awarded to the student for participation in a global experience.
More funding
If you participate in a short-term program you may also be eligible to submit an application for an:
- OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth supported student
- UQ Employability Grants if your program is not-for-credit
Short-Term Study Travel Grant
When you submit your Short-Term Experience application as a for-credit applicant, you are automatically considered for the Short-Term Study Travel Grants.
We offer $1,000 Short-Term Study Travel Grants to support short-term experience, for-credit participants. Please read the rules and conditions for the University of Queensland Short-Term Study Travel Grants.
Grants are limited and awarded by a selection committee on the basis of:
- financial hardship
- academic merit
- academic progression as provided at the time of application
- in consideration of other scholarships awarded to the student
Please do not rely on this funding to support your global experience.

New Colombo Plan Mobility Funding
The New Colombo Plan Mobility Funding, provided by the Australian Government, subsidises the cost of participating in for-credit short-term experiences within the Indo-Pacific region.
If you meet the eligibility requirements for New Colombo Plan Mobility Funding, you will be automatically considered and do not need to apply. These are awarded on the basis of academic merit.
Funding for supported destinations changes every year.

- EWB India Humanitarian Design Summit (Grant value $3,000)
- EWB Malaysia Humanitarian Design Summit (Grant value $3,000)
- Go Behind the Scenes - Cultural Gastronomy in Malaysia (Grant value $2,500)
- Intensive French in New Caledonia (Grant value $3,000)
- ACICIS Indonesian Language Short Course (Grant value $3,000)
- ACICIS Professional Practicum (Grant value $3,000)
Eligibility
To be eligible for this funding you must be:
- An Australian citizen. Students cannot receive a Grant to undertake a Mobility Project in a Host Location in which they have dual citizenship or residency rights.
- Have been successfully accepted by UQ Abroad and the Host University.
- Approved to receive credit for your short-term experience.
- Studying at an undergraduate level.
- Have not previously received a New Colombo Plan Short-Term Mobility Grant.
