I have participated in a range of extracurricular activities at UQ, many of which counted towards the UQ Advantage Award. Under UQ Abroad, I went on exchange for one semester to the University of California, Irvine. Travelling independently in a new and different country developed my adaptability, cross-cultural communication skills and global awareness.
As a Student Ambassador for School Liaison, I deliver presentations and shared my experience of transitioning into university with secondary students. I was also a Student Leader for the Student Services Mates at UQ, Chat Mates and Thrive at UQ programs. These leadership roles all improved my organisation, teamwork, public speaking and event management abilities.
I have also been a Student Mentor for the UQ Young Scholars Program as well as a residential chaperone for the International Baccalaureate World Student Conference. In both roles, I supervised and supported diverse groups of secondary students, which trained my facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Additionally, I participated in conferences such as the UQ Student Summit and the Asia Pacific Cities Summit, where I collaborated and networked with peers and professionals. I have also been a RWH Hawken Scholar under the Faculty of EAIT, which provided excellent opportunities to network and gain industry connections.
