Throughout my six year Civil Engineering/Commerce (Finance) degree, I was consistently changing career paths and direction. Fortunately, UQ offers students a variety of professional and networking pathways. Through the Student Employability Centre's programs and services, or the many clubs and societies, students are exposed to unique platforms to mix with recent graduates and experienced professionals. I was able to close the disconnect between study and a career by chatting to real people about their work which highlighted the options available.
It was through these events I was able to secure internships and in the end, choose the right option after graduating. I now work as an analyst at KordaMentha, an advisory and investment firm, within their Restructuring team. Our team works with companies in financial distress, urgently restructuring and stabilising the business to protect, grow and recover value.
