Motivation

I was inspired to participate in this experience because I saw it as a brilliant way to improve my French not only with an intensive course but also with the opportunity to practice speaking outside the classroom while discovering the beautiful French capital.

Personal Development

Not only did my French improve, but I also made lots of wonderful new friends from around the world!

Academic Development

The help and support of my teachers throughout the course has meant that my French has improved dramatically. They were especially good at identifying every student's personal goals and working with them on that. A difference about the French university system was that after oral presentations they give feedback straight away, in front of the whole class. This was a bit intimidating but everyone in my class was lovely and came together as a community so I didn't feel too embarrassed.

Highlight

A day I'll never forget was 14 July (the French National Day). In the morning I watched the military parade along the Champs Elysée, and then in the afternoon had a picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower with my friends. We ate delicious bread and cheese and listened to the free public concert as the sun set, before watching the fireworks over the Eiffel Tower.

Paris was also absolutely beautiful every day, with deck chairs, bars and umbrellas set up along the Seine each evening for people to sit, chat and enjoy the sunset.

Advice/Top Tips

Do it! I had an absolutely amazing time and learnt so much French while making friends from across the world and discovering beautiful Paris in the summer!
