Personal Development
I have gained a lot of friendships by connecting with the local communities and meeting like-minded people through my interests in dance and meditation. It was challenging to live in a country where I couldn't speak their language and I wasn't familiar with their cultural norms and practices. This experience helped me to grow as a person because I went through it to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone and be more open-minded.
Professional Development
I have developed my communication skills, despite the language and cultural barriers I've experienced in South Korea, I have practiced confidently interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds and conveying ideas clearly and respectfully across language and cultural barriers. This contributed to my future employability as it developed my networking ability to be able to meet a global network of friends and professionals and build meaningful relationships across cultures.
Accommodation
I stayed in the on-campus housing. I found it very convenient and helpful to build deeper relationships with other students in the program. I shared my room with another girl who studied the same course as me, so I was very pleased during my experience staying there. Also the facility and stuff there is always available and friendly.
Advice/Top Tips
I highly recommend people who want to make connections with other students to live in on-campus housing.
