Personal Development
I have gained a lot from this experience. First, I gained precious friendships. My new friends took me to many interesting local places in Hong Kong, such as delicious dessert stores, camera stores and so on. Secondly, during my five months in Hong Kong, I have gained a deeper understanding of Hong Kong culture, including their complaint culture. Also, Hong Kong is very team oriented. I can feel my teamwork skills rising dramatically. The downside is that my learning of Cantonese has not been what I expected. I think this is something I still need to work on in the future.
Professional Development
Throughout my experience, I have developed presentation and social skills. These skills I believe will be of great value in future teamwork. The challenge lies in the language challenge, and I took the step of asking local students for help. They taught me a lot in learning Cantonese, which I believe will help me in the future when I come across jobs in the Hong Kong region.
