My experience
I went to the Study Aboard Fair before and learned a lot about the ACICIS program. The students who went to the program kept telling how amazing Indonesia and the program was. I felt lucky when I saw the Agricultural Professional Practicum, because agriculture is closely related to my major. Therefore, I decided to apply the short term experience.
How has the experience changed you?
For the professional practicum, I’ve been lucky enough to work in WRI Indonesia. I was assigned a project that allowed me to put the knowledge I’ve learned in school into practice and develop my skills further. Since I am majoring in environmental management, WRI is actually one of the top choices that I want to work for in the future. Having work experience in a place like WRI would be good on my CV as well. Therefore, it fits with my career aims perfectly.
Favourite memory
My favourite memory was the field trip to South Sumatra. The place was very different from Jakarta. The scenery was beautiful, with clean air and less traffic. It was quite nice to get away from the city for a couple of days. I also visited the tea and coffee farms and had lunches with the farmers. People were so friendly and cheerful.
Top tips
For accommodation, it is important to find a place that makes you comfortable and relax. The language classes and placements were more tiring than I expected. Therefore, it is essential to get some good sleep.
