Pagoda Projects develops, supports, and facilitates international internships via their in-country teams on behalf of partners in the tertiary education sector.  Our in-person, virtual, and blended programs enhance student experiences, broaden curriculums, widen participation, and achieve key student outcomes.   

All participants will benefit from hands-on experience, with outcomes that can be clearly articulated to future employers.  

Develop a range of skills associated with employability via Pagoda’s 8 Competencies for career readiness (Leadership, Critical Thinking, Career Development, Digital Fluency, Teamwork and Collaboration, Communication, Intercultural Fluency, Professionalism).

All applicants must meet the UQ Internship Eligibility Criteria and any other criteria as outlined by the host organisation. Students are required to apply to both UQ and Pagoda Projects via the buttons below.

  3. Internships in Asia - In person

    Duration: 6, 8 & 10 weeks
    Locations: Thailand, Vietnam

  4. Global Online Internship - Virtual

    Duration: 6, 8, 10 weeks

    Program fee: AUD $1,400 (8 - 12 weeks); AUD $1,400 (10 weeks). Refundable deposit: AUD $200 (Refundable upon program completion)

 

Cost

The program fee for an in-person internship is approximately AUD $4,000 - $5,800 depending on the type of internship and program length. 

The program fee for virtual internship is approximately AUD $1,000 - $1,400 depending on the type of internship and program length.

The in-person program fee includes:
  • Accommodation (Private-room in shared apartment)
  • Remote and in-country support before, during and after programme
  • Full-time internship with one of our partner host companies (Approx. 35 hrs per week)
  • English-speaking supervisor
  • Pick-up and transfer to accommodation
  • Visa application letter and support (if applicable)
  • Option to join regular trips & events
  • Access to the Pagoda alumni network
The virtual program fee includes:
  • Internship placement with Pagoda's trusted host company with an English-speaking supervisor

Funding

New Columbo Plan

New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants  are available to eligible students if approved to undertake an in-person internship meeting the below criteria:

Internships and Global Experiences Grants

Funding is not guaranteed even if all selection criteria are met. Funding should not be a factor when developing your budget and should only be considered supplementary financial support if awarded. 

Applicants will be considered for only one grant per application round.

When you submit your application for an internship, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details.

Credit for Internships

Some students may be able to receive credit towards their UQ program pending faculty approval. The Internships and Global Experiences Team is unable to provide further advice regarding internships for credit. If you are interested in seeking credit, please refer to the Credit for Internships page for more specific details.

Due to Queensland legislation, students are not permitted to undertake unpaid work (not-for-credit) for more than 30 days in a calendar year. Please take this into account when planning your internship.

OS-HELP Loan

If you participate in an internship program you may also be eligible to submit an application for an OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth-supported student.
