National Chengchi University was founded in 1927 and has upheld its motto of “Harmony, Independence, Balance and Pre-eminence” since then. NCCU has continued to refine their teaching methods and research in order to nurture talent for Taiwan and its society.
Located in Wenshan District, Taipei City, NCCU leans on the foothills of Zhinan Mountain to its east, adjoins the Jingmei River to its west and is enclosed by the Edge Mountain System with the Zhinan River flowing through. Taken together, this forms a beautiful campus surrounded by hills and water.

Host university requirements
GPA
You will need a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.5 to study at NCCU.
Language
Students wishing to take courses taught in Mandarin will require a minimum of TOCFL Superior or HSK Level 4.
Study Options
You must choose one of three options at the host: Full-time academic studies, full-time Mandarin Chinese Language program, or combined Mandarin/academic studies. Further details are outlined in the Additional Academic Information section below.
Semester Restrictions
Students of Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau nationality can only apply for a single-semester exchange due to visa requirements – for example, students of Mainland China nationality can only apply for a single-entry visa.

Accommodation
Exchange students at NCCU can apply to stay in an on-campus dormitory. Spaces in the dormitories are limited. NCCU also operates an off-campus residence, called i-House. If students choose to arrange independent accommodation, NCCU provides a number of resources to assist in finding private housing.
Cost of living
NCCU provides a general breakdown of living costs for students. Note that a not all of these expenses apply to exchange students.
Financial support
A range of funding for student exchange including scholarships, grants and loans are available to UQ students.
Professor Chwei-Liang Chiou Scholarship
Supports undergraduate students studying political science to undertake an exchange program in Taiwan. Note, whilst you must be studying political science in your UQ program, you do not need to take any political science courses during exchange.

Insurance
Students approved to participate in a Semester-based Exchange are automatically covered by UQ’s Travel Insurance for the country of their host university only.

If you plan to travel outside of your host country, you should purchase additional insurance.
All NCCU students, including exchange students, are required to pay the Student Safety Insurance fee. Students on exchange for 1 semester are not required to purchase additional insurance while at NCCU. Students who will be studying at NCCU for 1 year will be required to join the National Health Insurance scheme after 6 months.

Organise your visa
It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa for the country where you will be studying. As the Global Experiences team is not a visa-issuing authority we cannot provide visa advice.

Travel risk levels
The University of Queensland cannot and does not allow students to travel to any country with a risk level of 3 (Reconsider your need to travel) or above, as assessed by the Australian Government.
If a country's risk level changes to 3 or above, experiences to that country are suspended until the risk level improves.
