International Internships
International Internships has been working with most Australian Universities and leading Indonesian organisations to facilitate high-quality in-person and virtual internships, for over 15 years.
Our mission is to facilitate meaningful experiences that inspire students to grow as people and kick-start their career.

What can I participate in?
Program 1: Individual Internship (In-person)
Students will be placed with an organisation located in Jakarta. On an Individual Internship you work independently, like a regular employee of your host organisation, closely supported by your colleagues and the International Internships team. When you apply you can express interest in any of our Advertised Positions or, just ask us to work with you to find the perfect internship.
Start Date: 17 November 2024 to 17 January 2025
End Date: will vary depending on start date & duration
Duration: 4 to 12 weeks
Program 2: Team Internship (In-person)
Students will be placed with an organisation located in Jakarta. On a Team Internship, you will be an integral part of a small multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural team of students working together to deliver a project for a highly regarded Indonesian organisation. Your internship is still tailored to your area of study and preferences.

Individual Internship (Virtual)
On an Individual Internship you work independently, like a regular employee of your host organisation, closely supported by your colleagues and the International Internships team. When you apply you can express interest in any of our Advertised Positions or, just ask us to work with you to find the perfect internship.

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa for the country where you will be studying. As the Global Experiences team is not a visa-issuing authority we cannot provide visa advice.

Application Instructions
All applicants must meet the UQ Internship Eligibility Criteria and any other criteria as outlined by the host organisation. Students are required to apply to both UQ and International Internships via the buttons below.
Students will receive access to their Internships Workflow once their application is approved by the Internships and Global Experiences Team.
Costs
Program fee for in-person participation is approximately AUD $3,600 - $7,200 depending on the type of internship program and length.
Program fee for virtual participation is approximately AUD $2,000 - $3,500 depending on the type of internship program and length.

- Individual Internship | In-person
Work independently (not alongside other interns) at your host organisation. Choose your preferred start date and duration. Apply for any of our Advertised Positions or just ask us to work with you to find the perfect internship.
- Team Internship | In-person
Work as part of a team of like-minded students with an organisation selected to match your interests and career objectives. Complete a defined project for your host alongside Indonesian students, who provide local insights and networks.

Several cultural and social events will be included in the program. Examples include visits to sites of cultural significance, such as Jakarta’s Old City or largest Mosque, and evenings with karaoke or watching a popular local film. As with the other events, these will be attended by local students where possible, ensuring that they support students’ immersion in Indonesian culture and help them to build local friendships.

Social and cultural events are part of your online program, they include interactive cooking classes, movie nights, history lectures and guided virtual visits to major sights like Borobudur.
You'll also join in online events including language lessons, networking events, seminars with international experts and professional development workshops to help you develop your skills.

Funding
New Colombo Plan
New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants available to eligible students if approved to undertake an Internship meeting the below criteria:

When you submit your application to the Internships and Global Experiences team, you are automatically considered. There is no additional application required. Applicants will need to submit supporting documentation (host acceptance, bank details) by the relevant deadline.
Internships and Global Experiences Grants
Funding is not guaranteed even if all selection criteria are met. Funding should not be a factor when developing your budget and should only be considered supplementary financial support if awarded.
Applicants will be considered for only one grant per application round.
When you submit your application for an internship, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details.
Credit for Internships
Some students may be able to receive credit towards their UQ program pending faculty approval. The Global Experiences Team is unable to provide further advice regarding internships for credit. If you are interested in seeking credit, please refer to the Credit for Internships page for more specific details

Due to Queensland legislation, students are not permitted to undertake unpaid work (not-for-credit) for more than 30 days in a calendar year. Please take this into account when planning your internship.
