Since 2011, The Intern Group has organized international internship programs for thousands of students from around the world, in 14 global cities and in virtual experiences online.

The virtual internship program includes a remote placement in a host company with an English-speaking supervisor, career development resources, access to exclusive live-streamed talks and Q&A's with business leaders, and other extra features.

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the UQ Domestic and Virtual Internship Eligibility Criteria and any other criteria as outlined by the host organisation. Students must apply to both UQ and The Intern Group via the links below.

Costs & Inclusions

The program fee for UQ Students is USD $2,990 (Approximately AUD$3,900). 

Students receiving Youth Allowance, are eligible for a USD $500 discount off any programs.

This cost includes:

  1. Virtual internship placement in your chosen career field
  2. Minimum 25 hours per week of remote work-based experience
  3. Professional DISC assessment of your workplace behaviour profile
  4. Welcome & orientation sessions with The Intern Group and the host company
  5. Remote working support & tutorials
  6. Career advancement training & resources
  7. Access to The Intern Group's exclusive live-streamed talks and Q&A's with business leaders
  8. Exit interview/debrief with The Intern Group staff
  9. A session with a professional career coach
  10. Lifetime membership in The Intern Group's worldwide alumni network.
  11. A certificate of completion from The Intern Group upon completing the final evaluation survey at the end of the program


Short-term Experiences Grant

When you submit your application to the Internships and Global Experiences team, you are automatically considered for a Short-term Experience Grant. There is no additional application required. Applicants will need to submit supporting documentation (host acceptance, bank details) by the relevant deadline.  

This grant is not guaranteed even if all selection criteria are met. Students who are due to graduate at the end of semester 1, 2021 will not be eligible for this grant. 

Credit for Internships

Some students may be able to receive credit towards their UQ program pending faculty approval. The Global Experiences Team is unable to provide further advice regarding internships for credit.
