The ability to relate and function in a group and communicate with others are key skills sought after by employers. But when everyone is so different, how do you ensure that you work and communicate effectively with people with different social and communication styles?

Have you ever wondered what your ‘Social Style’ is? Are you interested in learning more about yourself and others?

Come along to this workshop delivered by Ellen Piper, Manager of Outreach and Partnerships at Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC) to get an understanding of Social Style.

In this workshop you will begin to understand your own social style preferences, and how to work and communicate better with other social styles.

What is Social Style?

Everyone has preferred ways of acting and interacting. Some people work quickly, others more slowly. Some respond better to data, and others to stories or personal experiences.

Social Style helps you understand your own preferences and those of others.

Most importantly it teaches you how to recognise the behaviour of others and create strong, productive relationships with anyone.

The Golden Rule says to treat others the way YOU want to be treated. But the Social Style Platinum Rule shows you how to treat others the way THEY want to be treated.

The impact this has is profound.

What’s in it for me?

Understanding Social Style will help you:

  • improve your communication skills,
  • work effectively with anyone,
  • improve the effectiveness of the teams you are in,
  • reduce personality conflicts, and
  • improve your leadership skills.
