ACICIS Virtual Professional Practica
The ACICIS Virtual Professional Practicum Programs are high-quality, intensive academic study programs delivered virtually from Indonesia for Australian and international university students.
What can I participate in?
ACICIS offer the following internship opportunities:
- Agriculture Professional Practicum
- Business Professional Practicum
- Development Studies Professional Practicum
- Journalism Professional Practicum
- Law Professional Practicum
The ACICIS Virtual Professional Practicum program runs for twelve weeks. The first three weeks of the program consists of an Indonesian Language course offered intensively (Monday-Friday). This is followed by your professional placement (internship) 1-2 days per week, taken alongside regular studies for semester 2, 2021.
As this experience impacts on semester 2, 2021 teaching period, applicants must be eligible for credit, as approved by their UQ Faculty (see 'Credit for Internships' tab for more information).

Eligibility and application
All applicants must meet the UQ Domestic and Virtual Internship Eligibility Criteria and any other criteria as outlined by the host organisation. Students must apply to both UQ and ACICIS via the links below.
Costs & Inclusions
AUD $3,000 (including the $300 administration fee) for UQ students.
This cost includes:
- Application review and credit approval facilitation
- Placement host organisation matching and placement setup
- Comprehensive pre-program information and support
- Pre-program online networking event with other program participants
- Orientation session
- Intensive Indonesian language training
- Seminars, tutorials and virtual field trips/case studies led by industry experts and practitioners
- Supervised profession placement
- High-quality academic supervision and mentorship
Funding
New Colombo Plan Virtual Mobility Grant
Two AUD$3,000 New Colombo Plan Virtual Mobility Grants are available for eligible for ACICIS Journalism Professional Practicum students.
This funding is administered by ACICIS. Students must submit their application to ACICIS.
Short-term Experiences Grant
When you submit your application to the Internships and Global Experiences team, you are automatically considered for a Short-term Experience Grant. There is no additional application required. Applicants will need to submit supporting documentation (host acceptance, bank details) by the relevant deadline.
This grant is not guaranteed even if all selection criteria are met. Students who are due to graduate at the end of semester 1, 2021 will not be eligible for this grant.
Credit for Internships
As this experience impacts on semester 2, 2021 teaching period, the following Faculties have agreed to support the experience for credit:
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Business, Economics & Law
Some students may be able to receive credit towards their UQ program pending faculty approval. The Global Experiences Team is unable to provide further advice regarding internships for credit.
