My experience
I was attracted to 40kGlobe because of my desire for travel and challenge. Travelling to rural India to participate in an education based social enterprise for a month seemed like the perfect way to satisfy my goals! The experience proved to be extremely challenging and rewarding. Throughout the program I experienced delicious local food, worked closely with the villagers and met a ton of awesome like minded uni students. The time spent in the village was definitely the most difficult and enriching part of my experience. Dealing with different customs such as 'India time', class structure and of course the language gap could make seemingly simple activities extremely stressful and forced me to be more open minded, flexible, and patient. This was difficult for a person who is usually straightforward and deadline obsessed! I'd recommend this experience to anyone who loves culture, hard work and Indian food!
