My experience
I was very fortunate to spend January in India as a 40K Glober. Working in a team of students, our challenge was to setup an after-school English class to primary students in the remote village of Koramangala.
Interacting with the children was my highlight of the program. This included participating in morning yoga, learning the game of kabaddi at lunch and playing cricket in the afternoon. The challenging communication barrier gradually disappeared, and I was able to build a relationship with the children just from being with them.
During my time on the program I developed a strong cultural awareness and discovered a peacefulness to India which hides behind all the chaos. I’ve returned home with a sense of contribution, many new friends and a desire to go back.
