Motivation
Expanding my global network and experiencing university life immersed in a different culture.
Development
It wasn't my first time studying a foreign language, but it was my first time finding myself in situations outside of an exam environment where I had no choice but to use a foreign language. As a result, I think this built up my confidence and removed the barrier of self-consciousness that comes with applying new language skills in the real world.
Budget
Tuition = $1613
Accommodation (campus dormitory) = $700
Public transport = $50 (approx.)
Food = I'm unsure, but meals were always significantly cheaper than they are in Brisbane
Highlight
Experiencing a white winter. It snowed three or four times while I was there, which was incredibly exciting for someone who grew up in Brisbane.
Advice/Top Tips
I would recommend staying on for an extra week or so after the experience ends, if possible. It was difficult to manage class, study and sightseeing every day, and I found that having an extra week afterwards where I didn't have class meant that I could see and experience more with less stress.
