Personal Development
I have gained new friends from around the world, valuable professional connections and incredible memories that I will cherish forever. The experience challenged me to step outside my comfort zone. I think I've come back to Australia with a newfound confidence and a different perspective on life outside of Australia. It has also enhanced my desire to work overseas after graduating.
Academic Development
I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of similarity in the content and teaching between the University of Cambridge and the University of Queensland. As a final year student, I had at least touched on most of the content at some point throughout my courses at UQ. If I was a first or second year student, I would have found the workload quite intense. For me, the hardest part of the Programme was balancing assessment and social time, as I wanted to make the most of both. Thankfully this was certainly manageable and I was definitely able to enjoy both.
Advice/Top Tips
Girton College arranges social activities most days over the four weeks, including weekend trips to London and Oxford. Some activities we were offered included punting on the River Cam, group pub dinners in town, playing social sports, movie nights and a picnic. Some of my favourite moments were during these activities, and they are a great way to get to know the other students better, so for anyone attending, regardless of your discipline, I highly recommend participating in as many of these as possible!
Highlight
It is hard to pick just one highlight, but if I have to choose one, it has to be all the wonderful new people I met and lifelong friends I've made from around the world. It was so much fun to learn about different cultures and languages, and get to experience Cambridge University life together.
