Motivation
Gaining overseas exposure and meeting with an international cohort, studying in a reputed Ivy League school like Harvard, and engaging in discussions about Leadership that hopefully stretches me.
Academic Development
Getting comfortable with the discussions and blog posts on a daily cadence. It was initially challenging to start but over time I appreciated that we get to interact with each others' ideas through such discourse.
Budget
Food, Fun, Souvenirs. I allocated overall $1k to food as I took the HUH Student Housing Sublet (instead of the provided summer accommodation). Found an accommodation for $2300 and that was cheaper than the summer accom of $3300 including meal plan. Reality is, you won't be having 100% of your meals at the food hall, so it makes more sense to have an open budget for food.
With a sublet, I also have a kitchen and fridge which allowed me to prep simple meals and store leftovers.
I used the Bluebikes system to get around and that cost me $30/month for unlimited 45min bicycle rides. 2-way subway to downtown Boston was approximately $5 each time and I did that maybe 3 times across 3 weekends.
