My experience

In seeking the opportunity to engage in experiences that stimulate a little challenge, creativity and adventure, this short-term global experience of volunteering and exploring Peru seemed the perfect fit.

How has the experience changed you?

This experience allowed me to increase confidence in my own capabilities. The volunteering project involved teaching children english in a fun, interactive and hands-on way. This required flexibility and creativity in order to adapt our lesson plans for each different class at varying levels. I had a wonderful time connecting with the young little people of Ollantaytambo, Peru. I feel I have improved my ability to communicate across language and cultural barriers. I was also fortunate to meet and work alongside a beautiful team of like-minded, passionate and hard-working fellow students. This allowed me to expand my social and professional network.

Favourite memory

There were too many highlights in this trip! Perhaps my sweetest memory was receiving big beautiful cuddles and handfuls of flowers from the children at our partner school in Ollantaytambo, Peru. A precious moment that was sweet enough to bring on bittersweet tears on our last day together. ...Plus llamas decorated in pom-poms of-course!
