Founded in 1425, KU Leuven is the oldest university in Belgium, as well as being the oldest surviving Catholic university anywhere in the world.  It’s also Belgium’s largest higher education institution and is considered to be one of the most prestigious research universities in Europe. 

With its exciting range of options and its setting in one of Europe’s greatest cities, KU Leuven’s EU summer course truly stands out from the crowd. During this short-term programme jointly offered by the Faculties of Economics & Business, Arts and Social Sciences, you have the option to study for 2 or 3 weeks. The course will include lectures on Doing Business with Europe(ans); Policies & Politics in the EU; Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe,  and Social & Cultural Interactions. Participants will also visit Brussels, Antwerp, and Paris.

Credit equivalent 

6-8 ECTS = 2 UQ Units. Students must complete at least two modules to receive 2 UQ Units. Maximum of 2 UQ Units upon successful completion of 6-8 ECTS (pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience eligibility criteria and the KU Leuven entry requirements.

If you are intending to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to IGET at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note, however, that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline.

Cost

The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad, meaning you pay tuition directly to the host. The cost for this program is approximately $1072 AUD to $1335 AUD and covers tuition, social & cultural activities and reading materials.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the program fee. Participants can register for on campus accommodation, however spots are limited. For more information regarding accommodation, please see the host university website
