Global Peace Summit

The 5th Global Peace Summit gives youth the tools to be a champions of peace. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn from world-leading Peace Activists and network with like-minded individuals in the advancement of a more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable world.

Each year, the most outstanding delegates are selected to represent their institutions, joining a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to fostering peace.

The Summit stands as a beacon of hope and purpose, which reminds us that the pursuit of peace requires not only global leaders but also the passion, vision, and dedication of emerging young changemakers.

  • Transformative Learning: Delegates will engage in interactive plenary sessions, thought-provoking dialogues, and skill-building workshops designed to challenge perspectives and inspire action.
  • Global Recognition: Each delegate will be conferred the title of Humanitarian Affairs Peace Ambassador for one year - an honour that advances personal growth while strengthening professional credibility.
  • All delegates will receive an electronic certificate of participation upon attending the Global Peace Summit.

Up to seven students from The University of Queensland will be selected for the Global Peace Summit.

Application Requirements:

Complete the Global Enrichment Experiences application (below) and include:

  1. Global Peace Summit Delegate Application Form 2026.
  2. Passport sized photo (inserted in Delegate form above).
  3. A short statement outlining strong leadership potential, a genuine commitment to serving others, and commitment to being a Humanitarian Affairs Peace Ambassadors (maximum 3 paragraphs).
  4. UQ studies report (downloaded from mySI-net).

Experience Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to participate in this global enrichment experience, you must:

  • be a current:
    • Undergraduate student
    • Graduate student (Master)
    • PhD candidate
  • be aged 18-35 years
  • Show a genuine dedication to peace, social change, and addressing global issues
  • Commitment to being a Humanitarian Affairs Peace Ambassador for one year
  • be selected by UQ and nominated
  • not due to graduate before the completion of the experience

Exams and assessments

It is your responsibility to ensure that participation in a Global Enrichment Experience does not impact your exams or assessments at UQ. Please be aware that you may not be eligible for deferred or supplementary exams or assessments if there is a conflict.

Costs and Accommodation

The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad, meaning you are responsible for paying all associated fees directly to the host or via a payment method communicated to you by Global Experiences. 

The participation costs for this experience have two registration fee options:

  • Option 1 – With 4-night hotel accommodation: USD 1,100 + 7% VAT
  • Option 2 – Without hotel accommodation: USD 550 + 7% VAT (participants must organise hotel and airport transfer, and transfer to the summit individually)

Both options include access to all sessions at the Global Peace Summit. See a full breakdown of all items covered under the registration fee on the host website.

All other costs, including flights, visa/entry permit (if required), vaccinations/medical clearance (if required) and discretionary spending, are the responsibility of the participants.

Students will be covered by UQ's Corporate Travel Insurance for the duration of the experience. If you plan to travel for a longer duration that the experience covers, or outside the country of the experience, you are liable for the cost of additional travel and health insurance. 

Funding

When you submit your application for an experience, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details.

If you participate in a short-term program you may also be eligible to submit an application for an OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth supported student.

OS-HELP Loan application deadlines may not align with the experience application deadline. Please visit the OS-HELP Loan website for deadline dates as late applications will not be accepted.
