Volunteering:  Add Credibility to your Career

Here is the perfect event for you to find out more about volunteer opportunities!

Many employers are looking for well-rounded graduates who have more on their resume than just study. Volunteering is a great way to contribute to the community, enhance your employability, meet new people, and develop transferable workplace skills. It’s a win-win situation!

With up to 60 charities and not-for-profit exhibitors attending, the UQ Volunteer Expo is the perfect event for you to find out more about volunteer organisations, available volunteering positions and the type of experience which might suit you best. This is your chance to speak with organisations such as Woodford Folk Festival, Conservation Volunteers Australia, Multicultural Development Association and the RSPCA just to name a few!

Come along to explore opportunities, get experience, improve your resume and develop your community spirit!  There will be puppies in attendance as well a free coffee cart!

This is a free event and all UQ students and staff are welcome to attend.

How can I prepare

If you want to make a great first impression, there are a few things you will need to do.

Research

Review the participating organisations at this year's event and do some background research about the company, its direction and programs offered so you can be informed about their organisation and ask relevant questions

Write questions

Write a list of questions you would like to ask attending organisations. DO NOT ask what they do or what opportunities they offer, they're just going to direct you to their website.

Attend a workshop

Attend our Networking workshop and How to Find Work Experience Before you Graduate workshop.
