Virtual Internship

Virtual Internships organises global remote internships for all students and young professionals looking to gain that international work experience.

They guarantee a remote internship in the career field and location of your choice. Since 2018 they have sent over 7000 students and work with 12,000 Host Companies in over 150 countries.

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the UQ Domestic and Virtual Internship Eligibility Criteria and any other criteria as outlined by the host organisation. Students are required to apply to both UQ and Virtual Internship Partners via the buttons below.

  2. Submit an application to Virtual Internship Partners

Students will receive access to their Internships Workflow once their application is approved by the Internships and Global Experiences Team.

Costs & Inclusions

Program cost is AUD $1,500 for UQ students. 

This cost includes:

  1. Provision of work experience placement with a Host Company (All virtual internship positions are unpaid)
  2. Guaranteed Virtual International Internship in the country or career field of choice
  3. Dedicated Internship Experience Manager
  4. A guaranteed 30 hour a week internship in the career field of your choice 
  5. Assigned Internship Coach to complete midpoint and end of program coaching calls with the delivery of Global Career Management Plan (GCMP) and Global Employability Certificate
  6. Access to CareerBridge, our Global Internship Curriculum walking students through resume creation, interview prep, time management, remote work and more.
  7. Weekly Group Discussions or Business Webinars covering a range of topical themes
  8. Full End of Program Report including supervisor evaluation, student assessment, and GCMP

Funding

Funding is not guaranteed even if all selection criteria are met. Funding should not be a factor when developing your budget and should only be considered supplementary financial support if awarded. 

Applicants will be considered for only one grant per application round.

Widening Participation Grant 

When you submit your application for an internship, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details.

 

 

Credit for Internships

Some students may be able to receive credit towards their UQ program pending faculty approval. The Internships and Global Experiences Team is unable to provide further advice regarding internships for credit. If you are interested in seeking credit, please refer to the Credit for Internships page for more specific details
