UQ HDR Student Mobility Program at IITD

The two-week UQ HDR Student Mobility Program at IITD 2025 offers a unique opportunity for students to engage with the academic and cultural environment of IIT Delhi. Participants receive comprehensive logistical support from the UQ-IITD Research Academy. This experience will provide HDR students with insights into cutting-edge research at IITD.

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), designated an "Institute of Eminence" by the Government of India, is recognised as one of the world's leading higher education institutions. Situated in the heart of the national capital and spread across 350 acres, IITD offers world-class research facilities and a dynamic campus life focused on academic excellence and holistic development.

The UQ-IITD Research Academy is a collaborative initiative between The University of Queensland (UQ) and IIT Delhi. The Academy fosters impactful, transnational research by combining the academic strengths and resources of both institutions. Currently, the Academy supports over 120 joint PhD students across a broad spectrum of disciplines.

Up to 10 HDR students from The University of Queensland will be selected by IITD to participate in the UQ Student HDR Mobility Program at IITD.

Application Requirements:

  1. Receive a letter of consent from a host faculty member at IIT Delhi. Applicants are required to contact the host faculty directly.
  2. Completed and signed HDR International Student Travel Declaration form, found on the UQ Student Travel Procedure.
  3. Receive a letter of recommendation from the applicant's thesis supervisor at UQ
  4. A one-page statement of purpose outlining your interest in the program and academic goals.
  5. A current two-page CV
  6. UQ studies report (downloaded from mySI-net)
  7. Completed the Global Enrichment Experiences application (linked below) and include all documents listed above.

Note: All applications will be provided to IITD for their review and selection process.

IMPORTANT: HDR students must apply through their student account, using their student ID and student email.

Candidates must:

  • be an actively enrolled HDR student at UQ
  • Not have graduated before the end of the experience
  • Show a genuine interest in the program and research opportunities within your statement of purpose; and
  • Received the endorsement for your UQ academic through the academic signing your International Traveller Declaration form

International Students cannot participate in an experience to the country/region of passport, if you hold a temporary residency visa for Australia (international student visa or provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188))

Students enrolled in the UQ-IITD Joint PhD program are not eligible.

Costs

IIT Delhi will cover the following during the program:

  • On-campus accommodation (IITD student hostel) during the program
  • All meals during the program

All other costs, including flights, airport transfer, visa/entry permit (if required), vaccinations/medical clearance (if required) and discretionary spending, are the responsibility of the participants.

Students will be covered by UQ's Corporate Travel Insurance for the duration of the experience. If you plan to travel for a longer duration that the experience covers, or outside the country of the experience, you are liable for the cost of additional travel and health insurance. 

Accommodation

On-campus accommodation (IITD student hostel) will be provided by IITD.
