HKU Summer Institute offers a wide range of programs from different faculties, providing quality learning and rare chances to study abroad for students.

The programs are open to all undergraduates and secondary students and are best suited for students who are looking to expand their academic and cultural horizons during summer in one of the most vibrant cities in Asia.

Credit equivalent

6 Credits = 2 UQ Units. Maximum of 4 UQ Units if 12 Credits are successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience criteria and the HKU entry requirements. Some courses may impact on UQ semester 2, 2018 dates, UQ students must meet the additional special conditions for programs that impact on teaching dates.

Program tuition varies per course and is approximately $2,000 - $9,000 AUD per course. More information regarding program fees can be found on the host university website. UQ students may be eligible for a program discount.

Chuxiao - 2018

Even though the official language is English and the local dialect is Cantonese, I was still able to learn more Mandarin while I was in Hong Kong. Even if I hadn’t made new friends, even if I hadn’t learned new skills, even if I hadn’t explored new places (all of which I did), that one thing would have made the trip worthwhile.
