SWUFE Global Academy

The SWUFE Global Academy (SGA) in Chengdu, China, invites international students from global universities to participate in the FinTech and Digital Economy Innovation Summer Camp, themed 'Integrating FinTech, Experiencing China’s Development', combining professional learning, cultural immersion, and hands-on practice. Leveraging the college’s expertise and resources in FinTech, the camp delivers lectures and workshops in finance, technology, and application, supported by platforms such as the International Joint FinTech Lab. 

This program aims to provide a comprehensive immersion into Chinese academic life and cultural heritage, fostering mutual understanding and friendship between young leaders of the future. Alongside academic content, the camp emphasizes cultural engagement, including touring Kuanzhai Alley, the Panda Base, and Chengdu Museum, along with introductory Chinese and tea ceremony sessions, allow overseas students to deeply experience Chinese culture. Guided by both academic and industry experts, the camp integrates theory, practice, and culture - telling China’s fintech story, showcasing the university’s openness, and providing students an immersive journey to understand China and connect with the future.

Application Requirements:

1. Complete the Global Enrichment Experiences application (below) and include:

  • UQ studies report (downloaded from mySI-net)
  • Copy of your passport

2. Eligible students will be nominated to SWUFE Global Academy. 

3. If successful, submit application to SWUFE Global Academy.

    Experience Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible to participate in this global enrichment experience, you must:

    • be a current:
      • Undergraduate student
      • Graduate student (Masters)
    • be enrolled full-time
    • be aged 18+
    • not due to graduate before the completion of the experience.

    Exams and assessments

    It is your responsibility to ensure that participation in a Global Enrichment Experience does not impact your exams or assessments at UQ. Please be aware that you may not be eligible for deferred or supplementary exams or assessments if there is a conflict.

    Costs and Accommodation

    A participation fee of approximately $1,450 will apply. 

    The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad, meaning you are responsible for paying all associated fees directly to the host.

    The cost of the program per student is approximately $1,450 (7,000 RMB), which includes accommodation and program fees. 

    Two complimentary spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

    Please note that participants are responsible for their own international travel expenses to and from Chengdu, as well as any additional costs including visa/entry permit (if required), meals and discretionary spending.

    Visa Information

    As the Global Experiences team is not a visa-issuing authority, we cannot provide visa advice.

    Insurance

    Students will be covered by UQ's Corporate Travel Insurance for the duration of the experience. If you plan to travel for a longer duration that the experience covers, or outside the country of the experience, you are liable for the cost of additional travel and health insurance. 

    Accommodation

    Accommodation will be provided by SWUFE for the duration of the program, and is included in the program fee. 

    Funding

    Global Experiences Grants

    When you submit your application for an experience, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details. 

    Please note that funding is not guaranteed even if all selection criteria are met. Funding should not be a factor when developing your budget and should only be considered supplementary financial support if awarded.
