My experience

I chose this experience as I wanted to experience the Malaysian culture and food identity. I had never been to Malaysia before and was very interested to compare the Australian gastronomy to the Malaysian. I also aimed to expand my educational experience, as I knew this study tour would provide me with worldwide contacts. My favourite aspect of the trip was studying within a different culture and absorbing all the culture had to offer.

How has the experience changed you?

I gained multiple things from this trip. Firstly, I gained life-long friendships particularly with the international students that I would not of had in Australia. Additionally, I gained a better understanding of the language, culture, food heritage and history. I believe I have developed better communication skills with people of different backgrounds.

Favourite memory

My favourite memory from the experience was being in the kitchen with the head chefs at Taylor's university.

Top tips

For future students I would advise them to take opportunities like this, as I feel I have gained some great skills and experiences that I would not have in Australia.
