Georgia - Harvard Summer School

Bachelor of Economics/Arts
July 2018

Why did you decide to complete a short term experience?

I was drawn to the Harvard Summer School because of the prestige of Harvard. I thought it would be a great opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience university at one of the world's best.

How has the experience changed you?

I have developed a keen interest in American Foreign Policy, which was the subject of the class I took. I felt that I developed my public speaking and ability to discuss in class groups as a result of the class structure at Harvard. Moreover, I made close friendships with people from across the world and got to explore some of the most exciting cities in America.

Favourite memory

Meeting new people was my favourite part. There were a number of great friendships made from the people in my dorm since I lived on campus. Other great connections were made from the people in my class, who all came from very different and interesting backgrounds.

Top tips

I would definitely live on campus because making friends is much easier and neither the dorms nor the food on campus is bad. I would also make sure you explore all of Harvard because it is so big and there's some great things to see (Law School, football stadium, Business School).

Funding

I received the UQ employability grant.
