My experience

I wanted both the experience of studying overseas and travelling, but didn't want to commit to a six month exchange - so a short term experience was perfect.

How has the experience changed you?

The experience was in a word, amazing. I've always wanted to travel, and getting to study something I love at such a renowned university like Cambridge was a privilege. Travelling overseas alone taught me how to always be positive even when your flight home is delayed. Getting to study something not taught at UQ challenged me as a researcher and my academic writing skills for the better. Being taught by leading historians in Egyptian and Mesopotamian history has provided me with some invaluable contacts. Living at Queen's College for two weeks was also a sure fire way to make some life-long friends, and to meet people from all corners of the world.

Favourite memory

Favourite memory would be getting to visit the University run Fitzwilliam Museum - it was absolutely breathtaking for the moment I walked it, and it was amazing getting to see ancient artefacts that I wouldn't be able to elsewhere, like their Egyptian exhibit. Also getting to see the Queen when she visited Queen's College was pretty cool.

Top tips

If you want to go on exchange or a short term experience and you're waiting for  a sign - this is it. It's a lot less stressful than you think. My biggest tip would be to just take it one day at a time, and go exploring as much as you can - you'll never know what secrets spots you'll stumble upon.
