For Summer 2021/22 BEL Faculty students are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 6.0/7.0 for consideration. 

International short programs are a great way to spend your break from university, gain an overseas experience without disrupting your course structure and you could get credit toward your degree.

While overseas travel is currently restricted, Soochow University International Programs provides opportunities for students to gain important international experience through our virtual programs with students and faculty worldwide. You can develop practical, career-learning and intercultural experiences by taking advantage of Soochow University International programs.

Credit Equivalent

BEL Faculty Students:

3-4 credits = 2 UQ units. Maximum of #2 UQ units if 3-4 credits are successfully completed (pending UQ Faculty approval). 

All BEL Faculty students who intend to undertake a Short-term Global (Virtual) Experiences for credit transfer will need to apply via the Internships and Global Experiences Team (IGET) in advance by the stipulated deadlines. Only students who have been pre-approved by IGET and the BEL Faculty, will be guaranteed for credit transfer once the experience has been successfully completed and an official/certified final transcript for this experience has been received by the University.

No student will be permitted to apply for credit transfer retrospectively for a Short-term Global (Virtual) Experiences. For students who were not pre-approved in advance by IGET and BEL Faculty, credit transfer will not be granted, regardless of whether courses are listed in the Credit Precedent Database as approved or other pre-approved students have been granted credit transfer for the same course.

HASS, Science and EAIT Faculty Students:

Session 1: 4 credits = 2 UQ units. Maximum of #4 UQ units if 8 credits are successfully completed (pending UQ Faculty approval). 
Session 2: 3 credits = 2 UQ units. Maximum of #2 UQ units if 3 credits are successfully completed (pending UQ Faculty approval). 

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience eligibility criteria and any additional eligibility criteria set by Soochow University.  

BEL Faculty students are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 6.0/7.0 for consideration.

The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad: The program fee is approximately $4,400 - $6,000 AUD. Detailed information regarding program fees and inclusions can be found on the host program website


Applicants will be considered for only one grant per application round. Applicants are encouraged to review the Short-Term Experiences Funding information for further details.   

New Colombo Plan Virtual Mobility Grant 

A limited number of $2,000 AUD New Colombo Plan Virtual Mobility Grants are available for eligible  students.  

Widening Participation Grant & Short-term Experiences Grant 

When you submit your application for an experience, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details.
