Travel back through time to the mighty Roman empire and do practical archaeology work in Romania with the Projects Abroad Archaeology Internship in Romania.

You’ll work at excavation sites around Romania and learn from an experienced archaeologist as you dig up the past. This is a wonderful way to get hands-on with history, and gain valuable work experience in the field of archaeology.

Experience

With your help, we can preserve these historically and culturally significant sites for future generations and ensure that historical artefacts do not get destroyed during construction of new buildings. As an archaeological volunteer in Romania, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved directly. Here are some of the things you could do:

  • Carry out fieldwork including excavations and assessing restoration sites
  • Spend time working in a museum, helping with a range of duties from presentations to pottery reconstruction
  • Indoor research such as report writing, cleaning, measuring, and inventory during winter months

During the Archaeology Internship in Romania, you will move around a bit to various archaeological sites, so you can expect to stay in a variety of accommodation types. These may include guest houses, camps, hostels, and local host families. Where you stay depends on which archaeological site you’re working on. Make the most of your free time and explore, and do things like plan a trip to Transylvania!

This project accepts interns throughout the year, so you can join on the dates that suit you. You can stay from as little as two weeks. Projects Abroad encourage students to stay longer if possible so you can learn more and make a bigger impact.
