The LMU European Studies Winter School program is hosted by Ludwig-Maximilians Universitat in cooperation with the Department of International Relations of Central European University (CEU) Vienna, and focuses on EU governance and its corresponding challenges and innovations.

Participants will acquire expertise on the history and evolution of the EU as well as its various institutions and decision-making processes. Furthermore the course analyses some of the key challenges facing the EU, including issues of democratic legitimacy, migration and security, and economic governance.

Applicants are advised to submit 2-3 courses on their application for credit form for faculty assessment credit in case of course cancellation. 

Credit Equivalent

6 ECTS = 2 UQ units. Maximum of 2 UQ units if 6 ECTS are successfully completed (pending UQ Faculty approval). Students cannot obtain credit for German language course.

Eligibility and Application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience criteria and LMU's entry requirements.

Applicants must apply to the Internships and Global Experiences team by 24 September 2024 to be considered for this experience. 

Successful applicants will be nominated to the host by UQ by 30 September 2024. Students will then be contacted by the host university for further application instructions.

Cost

The participation mode of this experience is Exchange. Therefore, tuition is paid to UQ and can be deferred to HECS if eligible. Additional registration fees of approximately $320 AUD and accommodation fees of approximately $1300 AUD will apply.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided as part of the program for an additional cost. Students will stay in student residential halls or hotels while on field trips. More information regarding accommodation can be found on the host university website
