The LMU European Studies Winter School program is hosted by Ludwig-Maximilians Universitat in cooperation with the Department of International Relations of Central European University (CEU) Vienna, and focuses on EU governance and its corresponding challenges and innovations.

Participants will acquire expertise on the history and evolution of the EU as well as its various institutions and decision-making processes. Furthermore the course analyses some of the key challenges facing the EU, including issues of democratic legitimacy, migration and security, and economic governance.

Applicants are advised to submit 2-3 courses on their application for credit form for faculty assessment credit in case of course cancellation. 

Credit Equivalent

9 ECTS = 2 UQ units. Maximum of 2 UQ units if 9 ECTS are successfully completed (pending UQ Faculty approval).

Students are required to undertake the LMU European Studies Winter School Course and the German Language Classes to receive 9 ECTS.

Eligibility and Application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience criteria and LMU's entry requirements.

If you are intending to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to IGET at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline.

Cost

The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad. The EU Studies program fee is approximately $1,700 AUD and the German Language program is approximately $450 AUD. Additional registration fees of approximately $350 AUD and accommodation fees will apply.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided as part of the program for an additional cost. Students will stay in student residential halls or hotels while on field trips. More information regarding accommodation can be found on the host university website
